How this group of filmmakers is trying to involve more women in filmmaking
Filmmaker Shanta Nepali noticed a lack of female representation in Nepali filmmaking, sparking her to create a supportive community for aspiring female filmmakers. Recognizing the absence of role models for women in the industry, Nepali and other filmmakers established Nepali Female Filmmakers in 2019.

Nepali Female Filmmakers provides a platform for women to share experiences, find job opportunities, and support each other's creative endeavors. By promoting inclusivity and collaboration, the group strives to create a more equitable film industry in Nepal.
Through initiatives such as grants, masterclasses, and screenings, Nepali Female Filmmakers fosters a sense of community and empowerment among its 200+ members. By amplifying women's voices and perspectives in cinema, the group seeks to challenge traditional gender stereotypes and promote authentic storytelling.
